Frequently asked questions

A Couples Intensive is a condensed and accelerated style of relationship coaching for couples who want to get to the root of their issues in a concentrated 1 or 2 day period. You leave your regular routines and distractions at home to participate in a customized workshop experience designed for your unique dynamic where you learn and practice skills that will repair, revitalize and revolutionize your relationship. Couples Intensives have become a popular option because traditional weekly couples counseling often does not allow for the depth that is needed to uncover and heal deep seeded issues that are at the root of entrenched relationship problems. A Couples Intensive provides an extended amount of focused time for you to learn and practice effective communication necessary to repair hurts, release old resentments and transform how you act with each other so that you can trust each other again and enjoy your connection.

If you are in dire need of a rapid shift and you don't want to hassle with making time for 6 months to a year of traditional counseling, the Couples Intensive is the right option for you. If you have a specific event that you want to heal from, or if you have a difficult situation that would benefit from slowing down with facilitation, a couples intensive will help you sort through your thoughts and feelings so you can get on the same page with a plan of action. If your relationship is doing fine, but you want to learn new tools to create an even more intimate, joyful connection, a couples intensive will bring your relationship to new levels of depth and love. If you are struggling with a lack of intimacy, infidelity, constant arguing, or considering divorce, this option is effective, efficient and delivers potent results.

Before the Intensive begins, I will send you a set of comprehensive intake questions. _________ Day 1: We will identify what is fueling your conflict and disconnection. You will learn and practice a variety of tools that will enable you to talk about difficult topics without triggering your partner. You will learn how your brain works and how you can work with your brain to change your ineffective habits. Day 2: Practice the new skills while diving into the tension areas. You will build self awareness into your personal triggers and how to work with them. Get a customized plan of action to continue to cultivate the intimacy and your renewed connection. Schedule: 9:30 - 4:30pm with a 90 minute lunch and a couple brain breaks. Light snacks and drinks provided. _________ After the Intensive, you’ll each receive a notebook full of resources and tools that will help you cement in the new practices and support integration. We will have a follow-up 90 minute session to praise your progress, assess your growth and refine your tools.

The intensive will take place in my beautiful office in Santa Cruz, California or I can come to you with an added cost of travel and lodging. I offer either the 1 or 2 day intensive. In some circumstances, I can offer a shorter 4 hour option. We will work together to schedule a time within 3-6 months of our initial dialogue, either on weekdays or a weekend.

Nope, it's quite the opposite. The uninterrupted spacious time allows for a slow pacing which creates a relaxed atmosphere where we can dive into the deeper tension areas without being rushed. The absence of the "rush" allows for more breath and brain breaks to keep everyone regulated and open to learning. Couples report enjoying themselves and even having fun!

I guarantee that I will coach you with proven skills and techniques that will address your target areas. There is a single factor that will maximize your success: your level of motivation and your willingness to practice what you learn after our time together.
